About Soeren Poulsen

Soeren Poulsen retired from the Long Beach, California Police Department in September of 1997. He finished a 26-year law enforcement career as the Sergeant in charge of the Departments recently established Computer Crimes Investigation Detail. Mr. Poulsen’s law enforcement career included assignments in field patrol duty, police service dogs, organized crime and intelligence and a great variety of other investigative assignments.

In August of 1996, Mr. Poulsen was asked to create and develop the Computer Crimes Investigations Detail based on his extensive knowledge of computers and technology related issues.

Mr. Poulsen received his basic computer forensics examination training from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s, Computer Analysis Response Team, Los Angeles California and the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists.

He is a certified by the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists as a Computer Forensics Examiner, (CFCE).

He has also completed training High Technology Crime Investigations and Encase Forensic Software training, by Guidance Software, Pasadena California. Mr. Poulsen has obtained extensive knowledge and experience with computer forensics methodology.

In October 1997, he founded STP Computer Forensics a computer forensics examination and consulting firm. STP Computer Forensics has provided services for clients, both in law enforcement and private corporations, throughout the Western United States.

After moving to Sequim, Washington in March of 1999 he established, Poulsen & Associates Computer Forensics & Consulting, a limited liability company.

Mr. Poulsen is active in the education field of computer forensics examinations by conducting workshops and seminars for law enforcement and civilian members of the legal community.

Mr. Poulsen has conducted computer forensics examinations internationally and on March 12th, 2003 he was qualified as an expert in computer forensics examinations by the Queens Court in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

On December 2, 2003 Mr. Poulsen qualified as an expert in computer forensics examinations by the Queens Supreme Court, Judge Wilson, of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

On September 13, 2004 Mr. Poulsen was qualified as expert in computer forensics examinations by Judge Leighton of the United States District Court, Western District of Washington.

He is currently a Sequim, Washington Special Reserve Police Officer working computer forensics investigations and examinations.
